Where can we use solar?
- Off grid solar solutions Ideal for vacation homes, remote locations, water pump systems, boats and soon cars.
- On grid solar solutions Perfect for homes, office buildings and factories. Most utility providers will credit for the power generated by the solar panels.
- Hybrid solar solutions This is a combination of gas generated power, wind power and solar technology.
Efficiency
Obviously the amount of power generated by a solar panel depends on where it is located on earth, the angel of the sun toward the panel and the ambient temperature.
For that reason fixed panels are always put on a roof in the south direction. Some stand alone systems where there is enough space can be mounted on a sun tracking system. The efficiency of the solar panels goes also down when the temperature rises.
PV Panel Types
There are 3 basic types
- Mono Crystalline Cells They are made of a single slice of a crystal. They are the most efficient but also the most expensive!
- Poly Crystalline Cells They are a slice of a block of silicon made of many crystals. They are less efficient and also less expensive!
- Amorphous Cells Those cells are made of a thin layer of non-crystalline silicon. This layer is in general place on flexible film. This solution is the least efficient but also carries the lowest cost.
